Armenia`s ministry of defense refutes reports on appointment of advisor to defense minister

ArmInfo. The Armenian Ministry of Defense denied the appointment of the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army Kamo Vardanyan as an adviser to the RA Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan.

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia stated that information is circulating in the media about the appointment of Lieutenant General Kam Vardanyan as an adviser to the Minister of Defense. "We inform our media partners that official announcements of appointments to high-level and senior military positions in the Ministry of Defense are made in accordance with the established procedure.

The Minister of Defense has 3 military advisers: Major General A.  Simonyan, Reserve Colonel R.  Petrosyan, Reserve Colonel M.  Poghosyan.

A person can enlist in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia only if he has Armenian citizenship," the Armenian Ministry of Defense stated.

Earlier, the Zhokhovurd newspaper reported that the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh - Commander of the Defense Army Kamo Vardanyan was appointed advisor to the RA Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan. The newspaper notes that Vardanyan himself confirmed this information to it.

Vardanyan was appointed Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh - Commander of the Defense Army on September 11, 2021. It was he who was the minister when Artsakh was surrendered.
