Gurgen Arsenyan resigns from his parliamentary mandate

ArmInfo. The deputy of the ruling Civil Contract faction Gurgen Arsenyan submitted an application to the Chairman of the National Assembly to resign from his position as a deputy of the 8th convocation of the National Assembly. Movses Harutyunyan, the assistant to the Speaker of the RA Parliament, confirmed this information to ArmInfo.

It should be noted that according to NA regulations, the deputy must officially submit an application to resign from their position to the Chairman of the National Assembly. The resignation is then announced at the next meeting of the National Assembly. If the deputy doesn't withdraw their resignation within 15 days of the announcement by submitting a written statement, a protocol is created to terminate their powers.  The protocol is signed by the Speaker of the National Assembly and sent to the Central Electoral Commission within five days.

In early June, Armenian media reported, citing Russian sources, that Moscow had finally issued an agrement to appoint Gurgen Arsenyan, a deputy of the ruling Civil Contract faction, as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation. It was noted that the request was sent in the fall of last year, but there had been rumors circulating for quite some time that Moscow had rejected the agrement.  According to the source, the decision was made on May 8th, when Nikol Pashinyan went to Moscow for a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union. He personally asked Vladimir Putin to accept Gurgen Arsenyan's agrement.
