Tata Motors has unveiled its highly anticipated Curvv coupe SUV, offering a glimpse into its production-ready form ahead of its September 2 launch. This new model is the inaugural showcase of Tata’s versatile Atlas platform, promising a diverse range of future body styles and powertrains.

Design and Dimensions

The Curvv boasts a striking design characterized by split headlamps with animation, LED DRLs, and a sloping roofline that distinguishes it from its Nexon sibling. While sharing a similar front end, the Curvv’s elongated profile and distinctive wheel arches create a unique silhouette. The rear features eye-catching LED light bars with animations and a rooftop-mounted spoiler, echoing the concept’s design.

Interior Comfort and Features

The Curvv’s interior seamlessly blends familiarity with contemporary style. Inspired by the Nexon and Nexon EV, the cabin features a tasteful dual-tone burgundy and black color scheme. A strong emphasis on comfort is evident, with highlights including plush ventilated front seats, a spacious cabin enhanced by a panoramic sunroof, and ample legroom for rear passengers. The driver-centric cockpit boasts a fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with crisp visuals and intuitive control. Adding to the premium feel is an illuminated steering wheel and a JBL-branded audio system that delivers immersive sound quality and Connected car technology with iRA 2.0.

Safety and Convenience

Safety is paramount in the Curvv. Standard features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a comprehensive suite of electronic aids. The vehicle also introduces a segment-first powered tailgate with gesture control for hands-free operation, enhancing convenience. Best-in-segment Level 2 ADAS ensures advanced driver assistance, while the 360-degree camera and electronic parking brake with auto-hold further bolster safety and ease of use. The Curvv also offers a best-in-class boot space of 500L, providing ample cargo capacity.

Powertrain Options

The Tata Curvv offers a versatile powertrain lineup to cater to diverse driving preferences. Customers can choose from three engine options:

  • A 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine generates 120hp and 170Nm of torque.
  • A more powerful 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine featuring direct injection technology, producing 125hp and 225Nm of torque.
  • A 1.5-liter diesel engine delivering 118hp.

All engines come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is available as an option. Notably, the Curvv is the first mass-market diesel car in India to offer a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Variantsand Competition

Customers can select from six variants – Smart, Pure+, Creative, Creative+ S, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ A – with a choice of five colors. Bookings for the Curvv open on August 12, with prices set to be revealed on September 2. Tata aims to replicate the success of the Punch and Nexon with this new model.

The Tata Curvv will face stiff competition from the likes of the Citroen Basalt, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
