Tata Motors has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the Curvv EV, marking the company’s fifth electric offering. Positioned as a stylish coupe SUV, the Curvv EV carries an introductory price tag of Rs 17.49 lakh, with the top-spec long-range variant priced at Rs 21.99 lakh. Bookings for the vehicle will commence on August 12, 2024.

Design and Exteriors

The Curvv EV boasts a striking design that aligns with Tata’s contemporary aesthetic. The coupe-like silhouette, accentuated by sleek LED headlights, a bold grille, and uniquely designed alloy wheels, lends the SUV a sporty and futuristic appeal. The rear profile is equally impressive with its connected LED taillights and flush-mounted door handles. The Curvv EV is available in five color options: Pristine White, Flame Red, Empowered White, Pure Grey, and Virtual Sunrise (New).

Powertrain and Performance

The Curvv EV is underpinned by Tata’s Acti.ev platform and offers two battery pack options: a 40.5kWh unit and a larger 55kWh unit. The former delivers a claimed MIDC range of 502km, while the latter boasts an impressive 585km range. Tata claims a more realistic C75 range of 330-350km for the smaller battery and 400-425km for the larger pack. Powering the Curvv EV is a single electric motor producing 123bhp, enabling a 0-100kmph sprint in 8.6 seconds. The electric SUV supports fast charging, allowing for a 150km range in approximately 15 minutes. Additionally, it offers V2L and V2V charging capabilities.

Interior and Features

The Curvv EV’s interior is characterized by a modern and premium layout. Key highlights include a 12.3-inch free-standing infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and an air purifier. Safety features are comprehensive, encompassing six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.

Competition

The Tata Curvv EV will compete directly with the MG ZS EV while also vying for customers considering the Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. Its combination of stylish design, competitive pricing, and impressive range positions it as a strong contender in the burgeoning electric SUV segment.
