On social media, a video from 1992 of Ravi Shashtri giving an interview and sharing his most embarrassing moment has gone viral. He reveals about their first meeting with her. He states that when he first met her, he did not get to talk for the first 10 mins. In the interview he states that he knew that he was shy when it comes to girls but he didn't know that there will be a day that he won't get a chance to even say a word. He termed it as the most embarrassing moment. The interview in between did ask him which girlfriend is he talking about and he said 'Amrita'. When further probed, he said 'Naam' wali referring to the film that she featured in and confirming that he was talking about Amrita Singh.

Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh were a couple back in the '80s. Reports suggest that they were even engaged and were going to settle in a matrimony. However, they called it quits because Ravi Shastri wanted her to quit acting and become a housewife. He did not want her to be doing films. However, she was quite involved and focused on her career back then. Later, she found love in Saif Ali Khan and despite the age gap, they tied the knot. They have two kids Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. They ended their marriage in 2004.
