BYD M6 Facelift Teased Ahead of India Launch

Build Your Dreams (BYD), a prominent name in China’s automotive sector, has been active in India’s commercial vehicle market since 2007. With the Seal and Atto 3 already in its lineup, BYD is now set to introduce a new model—the M6 electric MPV. A recent teaser shared on social media hints at the imminent launch, while the outgoing E6 has been delisted from the brand’s official website.

Updated Design and Features

The teaser image showcases the M6’s refreshed front end, featuring BYD’s branding and tri-LED projector headlights with integrated LED DRLs. The model, also known globally as the BYD Song Max, retains a silhouette similar to the E6, but with a slightly longer and taller profile, thanks to subtle design tweaks. The front styling is now more aligned with the Atto 3 electric SUV, with a sealed-off nose panel, wing-like LED headlights connected by a brushed silver insert, a new front bumper, and larger connected LED tail-lights. New alloy wheel designs further enhance its updated look.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the M6 sees a significant upgrade with a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, replacing the previous 10.1-inch unit. While the dashboard design remains mostly unchanged, the center console now includes dual wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a redesigned drive selector lever. The MPV also features a new steering wheel but retains analogue dials for the instrument cluster.

Seating and Features

Internationally, the M6 is available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations, though it’s yet to be confirmed which will be offered in India. The India-spec E6 was only available as a 5-seater. Additional features expected in the M6 include automatic climate control, 360-degree cameras, cruise control, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate.

Battery and Performance

Globally, the M6 offers two battery options: a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420 km and a 71.8 kWh unit with a range of 530 km. The India-spec model is likely to come with the larger battery, delivering an output of 201 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque.
