Pashinyan: Armenia is ready to open the road for Azerbaijan even  tomorrow

ArmInfo. If the official Yerevan intends to abandon the trilateral statement of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan from November 9, 2020, it will announce it. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press conference in Yerevan on August 31, touching upon the potential of denouncing this statement and the statements made by the Russian side August 19 regarding this matter.

According to the Armenian PM, the trilateral statement of 2020 cannot be viewed in fragments, it must be considered comprehensively. In this regard, he recalled the failure to implement several of its provisions, including  the return of prisoners of war, hostages and other personsas well as the events that unfolded in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Armenian Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Armenian Foreign Ministry had appropriately addressed the trilateral statement. At the same time, Pashinyan noted that the Russian side's statement was an attempt to accuse Armenia of sabotaging the unblocking of regional communications.

"I can say that regional communications have not been unblocked yet due to unrelated comments from Russian partners that contradict the spirit of the Trilateral Statement. Furthermore, these statements often contradicted the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated November 9, 2020, which I have previously mentioned. Armenia is not only no sabotaging this issue, but is actively working to unblock it.  You may be familiar with this initiative - it is known as "Crossroads of Peace," "Pashinyan said, adding that even a number of Russian partners welcomed this initiative. According to him, there seems to be some kind of mistake here. Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is prepared to open the road for the Azerbaijani side as soon as tomorrow within the framework of the "Crossroads of Peace" project, with respect to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, by establishing checkpoints. "Armenia is ready to provide communications between Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. We also recognize that there may be some unique aspects to providing this route, but it is undeniable that Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity in this matter must be respected," the head of the Armenian government clarified, noting that there are no valid reasons to dispute this.
