When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan broke silence on rumours of her 'secret marriage' with Salman Khan, 'Wouldn’t the entire industry...'

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were considered Bollywood's "IT" couple in the late 90s. Their on-screen chemistry in the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam made them one of the most talked-about pairs in the industry. The duo also appeared together in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Their special appearance further fuelled rumours of their real-life romance. However, their relationship took a turn, leading to a highly publicised breakup that became the talk of the town.

Amidst the buzz surrounding their split, rumours began to circulate in the entertainment news world back then that the two had secretly married and even went on a honeymoon in New York. Addressing these speculations, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan once clarified that if such a significant event had occurred, the entire industry would have been aware. As reported by Firstpost, the Josh actress said, "Wouldn't the entire industry be aware of it if it had happened? The industry is such a small place; besides, I've not even had the time to spend with my family after my mom's accident. I'm not the sort of person to deny something as major as marriage."

The controversy didn't end there. There were whispers that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was allegedly involved with both Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi at the same time. Salman Khan's brother, Sohail Khan, once hinted in an interview that Aishwarya never acknowledged her relationship with Salman, despite frequent visits and her close kinship with the family.

The Tubelight actor said, "She never did. That made Salman feel insecure. He wanted to know how much she wanted him. She would never let him be sure of that. Aishwarya was in constant touch with Salman Khan till recently on the mobile, and that's what upset Vivek."

Despite the controversies of the past, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan moved on and found happiness with actor Abhishek Bachchan. The two got married in 2007 and have a daughter, Aaradhya. Salman Khan, on the other hand, remains one of Bollywood's most eligible bachelors, having never married. Vivek Oberoi married Priyanka Alva in 2010, and they have two children together.
