GOAT: Thalapathy Vijay was NOT the first choice for Greatest Of All Time? Here's how he beat these two superstars to bag the role

Tamil film GOAT aka Greatest Of All Time starring Thalapathy Vijay has been making waves. The film is said to have made Rs 43 crore on day 1 in India and is off to a great start. Trade experts are expecting this number to only increase in the coming weekend. It is very likely for the film to hit Rs 200 crore in India in just 4 days, that is by Monday EoD. The film is a science fiction action entertainer with Vijay playing a double role using the de-ageing technology. The film is said to be special for Vijay as this may be his last film before he steps out of film business and into politics full time. His GOAT co-star Premgi has also said that Vijay will become the CM in 2026.

Well, but did you know that Vijay wasn't the first choice for the lead in GOAT for director Venkat Prabhu? He infact write the film keeping in mind Rajinikanth, with his ex son-in-law Dhanush playing his son. Prabhu has always harboured the dream of working with Rajinikanth and therefore, this was his ambitious magnum opus. However, when he finally got down to the final casting of GOAT, he got very interested in the aspects of de-ageing technology and was keen to use it. GOAT provided the perfect opportunity, and thus Thalapathy came on board.

However, the thought of working with Vijay was something that gave Venkat Prabhu sleepless nights. According to his recent interview, he said that he was scared of working with the superstar. It was a first time collaboration. But Vijay being Vijay, made the director comfortable and the fact that he was a professional and throws no starry tantrums and always comes prepared to the set added to the smooth experience.
