Attackers found a new way to cheat on the eve of Hamster Kombat listing - they offer to withdraw money from the game at a favorable conversion rate into rubles. The number of such atrocities increased significantly at the end of September, when the developers summarized the results of the first season of the project.
"Criminals are constantly inventing new legends to swindle credentials from accounts in messengers. According to the working scheme of the con artists send Russian users links to phishing resource for authorization in the service. Through it allegedly you can withdraw coins from the sensational game Hamster Kombat and convert them into rubles. However, to do this, you need to authorize in Telegram and enter your credentials on the page that opens. This is how they steal access to the virtual wallet and other valuables," said Olga Svistunova, senior content analyst at Kaspersky Lab.
First of all, fraudsters try to lure out a phone number and confirmation code. They use them to gain access to user accounts, which they can then use for various purposes: from stealing confidential information to blackmail and sending phishing links to the contact list, the expert added.
HMSTR is currently priced at $0.01 per token on the premarket, according to data from crypto exchange Bybit. On September 26, users will be able to convert their tokens, but not all of them, but only 10% of the total amount. As explained by experts, the actual earnings will be much lower and will amount to an average of 30-50 rubles for each month of active use of Hamster Kombat. Unofficially this program in Russia is called "hamster tap".
