Actress who faced racism and abuse on TV, opted out of Ajay Devgn movie, now owns Rs 150 crore
Bollywood has always been a glamorous industry. Fame, name, money, parties and everything that makes it entertaining is Bollywood. But then there are controversies too. Nepotism is one topic that Bollywood has been struggling with for a long time now. While the debate over nepotism still continues, there are stories of a few celebs who has shined not just in India but even on International platforms. From Priyanka Chopra to Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, many Bollywood actresses have made a name for themselves in Hollywood. But today, we aren't talking about these divas.
Today, we are going to talk about a Bollywood actress who dared to appear on an International TV show when the boundaries between Bollywood and Hollywood were still thicker. Not just she participated in the show but even won leaving some of the biggest names from Hollywood behind.
No points for guessing as it is none other than Shilpa Shetty. The actress made her big debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan with the film Baazigaar in 1993. She then appeared in movies like Aag, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Pardesi Babu, Jung and many more. As she rose to stardom, she became one of the bankable divas in Bollywood. One of her biggest films is Dhadkan that ruled entertainment news with its box office collection.
In 2007, Shilpa Shetty participated in Big Brother season 5. She won the show but it wasn't an easy journey for her. She faced racism and bullying on international television. This led to an international debate. Jade Goody especially came under the scanner after Shilpa Shetty commented that the hatred against her might be motivated due to racism. She eventually went on to win the show.
Shilpa Shetty has been a known name for the longest time. While she has appeared in biggest films, she has also opted out of a few. Reportedly, she was to be a part of Ajay Devgn's movie Jung. But she opted out of it. Rambha replaced Shilpa in this film.
