Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has unveiled a new lineup of motorcycles and an electric scooter at EICMA 2024 in Milan, alongside a detailed plan to expand into Europe and the UK by late 2025. Under the theme “Be the Future of Mobility,” the brand’s showcase emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement.
New Product Lineup Highlights
Hero MotoCorp’s exhibit at EICMA includes three new internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles—the Xpulse 210, Xtreme 250R, and Karizma XMR 250—catering to a range of riding styles. Additionally, the company presented its VIDA Z electric scooter, a product tailored for eco-conscious consumers and optimized for urban commuting.
Xpulse 210: This adventure bike is powered by a 210cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine, generating 24.5 bhp and 20.4 Nm of torque. Built for varied terrains, the Xpulse 210 features front and rear suspension of 210mm and 205mm, respectively, along with switchable ABS. The bike’s 220mm ground clearance and rally kit make it ideal for off-road exploration.
Xtreme 250R: Marketed as a street-centric motorcycle, the Xtreme 250R boasts a 250cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a 4-valve system, delivering 30 PS and 25 Nm torque. Its trellis frame and 50-50 weight distribution provide agility and stability. Designed for performance, it includes adjustable suspension, radial tires, a lap timer, drag timer, and TBT navigation, making it suitable for street riding and sports enthusiasts alike.
Karizma XMR 250: The latest in Hero’s Karizma line, the XMR 250 showcases a 250cc DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine with 30 PS power and 25 Nm torque. Its fully-faired design, racing-inspired winglets, adjustable clip-on handlebars, and multi-projector LED headlight create a striking visual profile. Built on a trellis frame, it features switchable ABS, making it a versatile choice for track and road use.
VIDA Z Electric Scooter: Designed for a global market, the VIDA Z is Hero’s new electric scooter offering, focusing on urban mobility. With a permanent magnet synchronous motor and modular battery options (ranging from 2.2 to 4.4 kWh), it’s equipped with multiple charging modes, a removable battery, and connected features through the MY VIDA app. These allow users to track vehicle health, detect movement, and receive over-the-air updates, all aimed at enhancing ease and security.
Expansion into European Markets
Hero MotoCorp aims to solidify its presence in Europe and the UK by the second half of 2025. The company has set up partnerships with distributors across key European markets, including Pelpi International S.r.l. in Italy, Noria Motos SLU in Spain, GD France in France, and MotoGB UK in the United Kingdom. Hero’s plans involve launching the VIDA Z electric scooter initially, followed by high-capacity ICE motorcycles.
The brand’s expansion is backed by its European Technology Center in Germany, which plays a critical role in its product development for European standards. The Tech Center also supports Hero MotoSports Team Rally operations, indicating an integrated approach to the company’s European growth.
Focus on Future Mobility
As part of its vision for “Future Mobility,” Hero MotoCorp is working on sustainability-driven product development, with an emphasis on advanced electric and fuel-efficient engines. The company’s mission aims to balance environmental responsibility with high performance, as exemplified by its VIDA Z electric scooter and high-performance ICE motorcycles.
