On its first Monday, Kanguva witnessed a drop of more than 70%. The film managed to earn Rs 3.15 crore as per early estimates from the box office tracking portal Sacnilk. The film has earned Rs 56 crore in its first five days from all five languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. If reports are to be believed then Kanguva was made around Rs 350 crore and is considered as one of the most expensive Indian films.

On the first day, the movie earned Rs 58.62 crore gross globally. In India, it earned Rs 28.50 crore on the first day. On the second day, the film earned Rs 9.5 crore. On the third day, the movie collected Rs 9.85 crore. Reportedly, the film has been shot in 7 countries and the makers took the help of Hollywood stuntmen for action sequences.

Kanguva is set across two timelines with Suriya in double roles and the period portions are set in 1070. In the present era, Suriya is a bounty hunter named Francis Theodore who helps cops catch dangerous criminals. The film also stars Yogi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, and Mansoor Ali Khan in pivotal roles. The film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja, V Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under their banners Studio Green and UV Creations.
