BMW M5 Perfromance Launched: Hybrid Power?
BMW has officially launched the seventh-generation M5 in India, marking a significant milestone for the iconic high-performance sedan. Available as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit, the latest M5 introduces hybrid technology while retaining its signature V8 engine, underscoring BMW’s commitment to combining tradition with innovation.
Pricing and Availability
The new BMW M5 is priced at INR 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) and is available for immediate purchase. The price excludes road tax, RTO fees, and insurance. Buyers can opt for various financing solutions via BMW India Financial Services, which offer flexible plans including assured buy-back options.
Hybrid Powertrain and Performance
For the first time in its history, the M5 is equipped with an M Hybrid system. It combines a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 727 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and achieve an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (305 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package). The electric motor, powered by an 18.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, offers a pure-electric range of up to 69 km.
Exterior and Design
The new M5 features an evolved design, including the iconic BMW kidney grille in a high-gloss black finish, flanked by Adaptive LED headlights. Customers can choose from multiple paint options, including Alpine White, Marina Bay Blue, and Isle of Man Green. The standard M Carbon Roof enhances performance by reducing the vehicle’s weight and lowering its center of gravity.
Interior and Features
Inside, the M5 combines luxury and sportiness with M-specific elements. Highlights include M multifunction seats, a redesigned M leather steering wheel, and the BMW Curved Display. Advanced features like the M Laptimer and Boost Control function cater to enthusiasts, while the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System ensures premium audio quality.
Technology and Safety
The M5 comes equipped with BMW Operating System 8.5, offering enhanced connectivity and navigation features. Standard safety includes multiple airbags, advanced braking systems, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Optional driver-assistance packages add features like lane-change assist and cross-traffic warning.
