Sony Nigam talks about Mohammed Rafi's music

Sonu Nigam at the event praised Mohd Rafi for having the ability to adapt his voice for actors for across generations as he has sung for celebrities like Dilip Kumar, Johnny Walker, Mehmood, Rishi Kapoor and many more. He also spoke about Mohd Rafi singing Bhajans. Sonu Nigam was quoted saying that when Mohd Rafi sang Bhajans, it felt like he underwent a change of religion. He stated that it felt like a Hindu was saying Bhajans. His quote read, "When he sings bhajan, lagta hai koi pakka Hindu gaa raha hai. Hain vo musalmaan, namaazi aadmi hain. Inka dharam parivartan kaise hojaata hai gayaki mein? (It felt like a Hindu was singing by heart, despite being a Muslim. How was he able to change his religion while singing?)". The quote has gone viral on entertainment news.

Sonu Nigam further went on to add that it is a huge deal and not everyone can do it. He added that there are many singers who sing Sufi songs but are not able to sing Bhajans. But Mohd Rafi was different. He added that the legendary singer could sing Ramzan, Raksha Bandhan and even happy songs as well as sad songs. "There is nothing that he hasn't done. Yeh kaun aadmi hai? (Who is this man?) He was a volcano, who would only erupt in the mic," Sonu Nigam added.
