Amol said that no actor, especially a superstar like Rajesh Khanna, should belittle anyone. He believes that people like him will be superstars no matter what. "In our industry, they like to say things like, 'Oh, he ate the scene up; he chewed out his co-star.' I call these actors 'cannibals.' I'm not like them," said the Ankahee actor.

Yet, according to Palekar, Rajesh Khanna felt the need to show the world that he is "superior." "By belittling me, he's not gaining stature, is he? Amol Palekar said that he would never let this happen to him or do it with anyone else. The actor also said how some actors go through such insecurities when they realise their "time is up." As reported by News 18, Amol refused to film a sequence where his character gets humiliated by Rajesh Khanna's character. He even refused to do so, but the director and the late superstar managed to shoot the scene in secret. At that time, Khanna allegedly kicked his costar. Thus, the friction between him and Khanna intensified.
