AGMI Director: The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute is one  Armenia`s most visited museums

ArmInfo. The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute (AGMI) is one of the three most visited museums in Armenia, as noted by Edita Gzoyan, the Museum director, at a press conference in Yerevan on April 2, while speaking about visitor numbers.

According to Gzoyan, the museum receives about 100,000 visitors  annually. Thus, according to her, last year this number was 80,000,  with 10,000 being schoolchildren. The director noted that there are  also changes in the geography of tourists: while previously the  Museum-Institute was most often visited by Russian and European  tourists,  this year has seen increase in guests from Japan, South  Korea and the Philippines. As a result, audio guides in English,  Russian and French are now available to visitors.  Regarding tourists  from Turkey, Gzoyan noted that last year there were around 300.  However, as she noted, most researchers interested in the topic and  studying the Armenian Genocide do not reside in Turkey, as studying  this issue is prohibited in the country.
