Armenian-Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan issues statement

ArmInfo.  Russian businessman of Armenian origin, head of the Tashir group of companies Samvel Karapetyan made a statement through his legal team. He is currently  being held in the Armavir penal institution (UIU).

In the letter "What have the current authorities achieved", the  businessman shared his impressions of what happened to him these  days."

The day of the arrest decision was one of the most interesting days  of my life. I'll tell you why. I saw with my own eyes the agitated  state of the investigator, who was obviously forced to bring charges.  After the court announced the arrest decision, the deplorable state  of the experienced prosecutor - throughout the trial. And finally, I  saw with my own eyes the attitude of the broken judge, who during the  trial allegedly listened with surprise and sometimes with contempt to  the illegal accusations and untenable arguments of the investigator  and prosecutor, thereby trying to demonstrate impartial, independent  behavior. Then, after four hours in the deliberation room, he showed  that he was dependent and powerless. But never mind, the courts will  soon be independent. We will fight," Karapetyan said in his letter.

Samvel Karapetyan was detained on the night of June 18 in Yerevan by  Armenian law enforcement agencies after he expressed support for the  Armenian Apostolic Church. This was followed by open threats from the  Prime Minister. On the night of June 19, the Yerevan Court of General  Jurisdiction arrested the president of the Tashir Group of Companies,  Samvel Karapetyan, for two months. He is accused of publicly calling  for the seizure of power in the country. Karapetyan does not admit  guilt. His defense has already filed an appeal against this verdict  to a higher court.
