Turkmenistan and Japan: a focus on hydrogen energy and high technologies

ArmInfo. On the sidelines of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue Summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented a strategic vision for the technological modernization of the country’s energy sector. The key development vector was identified as the introduction of innovations in the fields of environmental protection and renewable energy sources (RES).

The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan is consistently implementing a policy aimed at energy efficiency, reducing methane emissions, and introducing alternative energy sources.

Special attention in the speech was given to the development of hydrogen energy. The President underscored that Turkmenistan has already moved from theory to practice by beginning to explore concrete forms of cooperation with Japanese partners.

“Recognizing that hydrogen is the energy of the future, we have already begun to study substantive cooperation with Japanese companies. Our partner in this area is the University of Tsukuba and its relevant divisions. Overall, we are deeply interested in close interaction with Japan, which possesses unique experience and advanced technologies in the fields of green energy, energy efficiency, and environmentally clean production,” stated the President of Turkmenistan.

Cooperation with Japan, one of the world leaders in the field of “clean” technologies, will enable Turkmenistan to significantly reduce the environmental burden on the region, in line with global trends of the “green” transition.
