NEWPORT - Before he started high school, Cashman Downes thought he was done with wrestling. Now, in his final season, he can’t imagine life without it. Portsmouth isn’t a wrestling hotbed, but it does have one of the best wrestlers in Rhode Island in Downes. The senior showed off his talents Tuesday, getting a pin that helped his Aquidneck Island team grab a 45-36 win and reaffirm that saying yes to those who asked him to pick up the sport again during his freshman year was the best decision he could have made. “I kind of ran with it.
