Trump, Aliyev discuss Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process

ArmInfo. During the meeting in Davos between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump, Trump's historic role in reaching agreements in Washington on August 8 of last year related to advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, was emphasized.

According to AZERTAC, Aliyev touched upon the steps being taken to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Noting that peace has already been established in the region, Aliyev said that it is also reflected in the development of trade relations between the two countries. In particular, he emphasized the export of petroleum products  to Armenia, as well as the delivery of imported grain to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan. He further noted that the so-called "Zangezur Corridor," including the TRIPP project, plays a significant role in enhancing regional connectivity.

During the talks, the significance  of the Board of Peace, established under the chairmanship of the US President, was discussed. It's significance in strengthening peace in the Middle East and contributing to the resolution of global conflicts was underscored. Azerbaijan's invitation to join the Board of Peace as a founding state was seen as a manifestation of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the US and of Azerbaijan's role in promoting global peace.

During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for bilateral relations and emphasized the role of mutual visits and contacts at various levels in strengthening relations.
