HS Boys Basketball Notebook: Coaches have contrasting takes on shot clock
Shot clocks may be coming to high school basketball and lacrosse in New Jersey. The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s executive committee voted this past Wednesday to advance two proposals. There will be a final vote in May for NJSIAA schools to implement shot clocks beginning with the 2027-28 school year. This would mean 35-second shot clocks in basketball and 80-second shot clocks in lacrosse. For perspective, local schools in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League have been using a 30-second shot clock in basketball since 2017.
