RA Cabinet distributes funds for political parties

ArmInfo. At its February 19 meeting, the Armenian government approved the amounts of state funding for political parties for 2026. According to the Law on Parties, subsidies are allocated to parties (or party blocs) that received at least three percent of the vote in the last 2021 National Assembly elections, based on the share of support received.

A total of 520,733,000 drams (slightly over $1.3 million) will be allocated for party support, the same as in 2025. The ruling Civil Contract party will receive 268.3 million drams, the Hayastan bloc (which supports former President Robert Kocharyan and includes the ARF Dashnaktsutyun and the Revival Armenia Party) will receive 163.2 million, the Prosperous Armenia Party will receive 50.4 million, and Aram Sargsyan's Republic Party will receive 38.7 million (approximately $100,000).

The I Have the Honor bloc (the Republican Party of Armenia and the Fatherland Party) is not receiving funding: although it entered parliament, it did not receive the 7% required for a political bloc (it was the third-largest party in terms of electorate, as there must be at least three parties in parliament). As a reminder, according to amendments adopted to the Law "On Political Parties" in December 2020, funding for parties was, firstly, increased more than fivefold from 103 to 550 million drams, and secondly, equalized between parties with large and small electorates (previously, the latter received a symbolic sum of 3-4 million drams per year).
