Former President Kocharyan to run for Prime Minister

ArmInfo.Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) will continue their cooperation. Together with the "Forward" political force, they will participate in the upcoming  parliamentary elections on June 7 as part of the "Armenia" (Hayastan) bloc.

Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a representative of the ARF Supreme Body and a member of the National Assembly from the largest opposition faction, Armenia, made this statement on March 16 in Yerevan when announcing the format of the Armenia bloc's participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"Despite trials, political persecution, and unprecedented pressure,  the "Armenia" bloc has not only remained viable, but has also grown  with a renewed and expanded membership. Today, I have the honor to  announce that the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, and  the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) have decided  to continue their cooperation. The "Forward" Party and numerous  public and political figures have joined us. In the upcoming  elections, we will run as part of the "Armenia" bloc," Saghatelyan  announced. According to him, their political force will participate  in the elections under the slogan "Together, we can!" Saghatelyan  stated that they have embarked on a path of struggle to change the  situation in the country. " The only person  who never makes a mistake is someone who does nothing. We were honest  and sincere in our goals," he noted.

Saghatelyan emphasized that if the current Armenian government is  re-elected, there will be a "real Armenia" without an army, without a  church, and dependent on the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey.   "We're not facing another election, this isn't just another election  campaign-it's a matter of existence. Our task is to prevent the  current government from being reproduced and stop the chain of  concessions. We must be honest. There's not a single political force  in Armenia capable of doing this alone, and I'm directly addressing  the opposition: we don't have targets in the opposition field; we  only have partners in the struggle. We have one target-the current  government-and we will act accordingly. We expect the same approach  from all political forces in the opposition field," he said.

Anna Grigoryan, another member of the Armenian parliament from the  Hayastan bloc, announced that their candidate for prime minister of  Armenia will be Robert Kocharyan, the first president of Artsakh and  the second president of Armenia,
