Boys basketball: Delphos St. John’s one win away from state title
DAYTON — Twenty-eight wins down. One to go. For the first time since 2002, the Blue Jays will play for a state title after a 61-32 win over Malvern on Friday at the Nutter Center. And, in the words of Delphos St. John’s coach Aaron Elwer, “It’s been too long.” Elwer, a coach for the 2017 state semifinalist and a starter on the 1998 state runner-up team, said his team is looking forward to the opportunity to finish off its perfect season on Saturday afternoon at UD Arena. “These guys have taken on a lot this year, with expectations and a big target on their backs,” Elwer said. “I’m just so proud of our guys, our program, and our community is really proud of these guys....
