Charlotte Gainsbourg Will Bring Blockbuster Emotions To 'Independence Day 2'
Perhaps best known for being emotionally browbeaten by Lars von Trier, or for her string of work in a variety of foreign and arthouse films, one thing Charlotte Gainsbourg is not known for is staring in major, Hollywood blockbusters. But then again, neither was Juliette Binoche when she joined "Godzilla" and was killed about fifteen minutes into the movie. Either way, "Independence 2" will now be tied to "Nymphomaniac" by one degree of separation.
Charlotte Gainsbourg has joined the sequel, which doesn't star Will Smith, but does have Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, and Jesse Usher. So, uh, yeah. While I still await the official announcement of Bill Pullman, not much else is known about the sequel plot-wise, but Usher plays the son of Will Smith's character from the first movie. But presumably there will be another alien invasion and America, with patriotic pride, will save the day. And frankly, if Gainsbourg can survive von Trier, she can survive...
