No real surprise given the potential prestige of the picture, Universal Pictures announced today that “By The Sea,” Angelina Jolie’s directorial follow-up to “Unbroken” will arrive on the Oscar-friendly date of November 13.
Written, directed and produced by Jolie (apparently going by Jolie Pitt), the romantic dramatic film stars the filmmaker herself, her husband Brad Pitt and the duo are supported by an international ensemble led by Mélanie Laurent, Niels Arestrup, Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer. Here’s the official synopsis, but in short, this is a seaside-set film about marriage, love and the human experience said to be influenced by European cinema and theater of the ’60s and ’70s.
