The new season of “True Detective” is right around the corner, just over a month away. This time series creator/showrunner Nic Pizzolatto doesn’t have a Cary Funkanaga-like auteur to helm the entire series, but that’s pretty rare in television anyhow (unless you’re Steven Soderbergh and think it’s no big thing). It seems like the dark philosophical tone of season one won’t be repeated either, which is probably a wise choice because you shouldn’t try and recreate an individual as unique and awesome as Rust Cohle.
