Durban - Clive Naidoo was the name on everyone’s lips in the past week. He became the man who broke the internet in South Africa after a video of him trying to expose an “arrogant” Joburg Metro Police officer went viral.

The policewoman pulled him over, saying that he had driven through a red robot.

#CliveNaidoo became one of the top trends on Twitter with the public arguing whether he was in the right or in the wrong.

His actions were being scrutinised by the public, with many saying that he “shot himself in the foot” and that the officer was correct in the way in which she approached the situation.

Following the incident, Naidoo created a Twitter and Facebook account to apologise, but that did not stop the scrutiny.

Naidoo was still the joke of the country after several memes and adverts were made depicting the showdown.

A Nando’s advert read: “Clive, you have been served!”

Momentum tweeted: “#CliveNaidoo, that windscreen crack would have been fixed long ago with Momentum short-term insurance)”.

Naidoo was also scorned because of his home address: when he gave the officer his address in Bloubosrand, she upped the backchat a notch and told him that he should be embarrassed to live there.

Attempts to contact Naidoo for comment were unsuccessful.
