President and OSCE chairman-in-office personal representative discussed tension on Armenia Azerbaijan border

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met last Saturday with Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, to discuss the heightening tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and on the line of contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, Sargsyan’s press office reported.

YEREVAN, September 7. / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met last Saturday with Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, to discuss the heightening tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and on the line of contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, Sargsyan’s press office reported.

It said both sides expressed serious concern over the frequented cases of ceasefire violation. Sargsyan was said to have stressed the importance of reaching accord on the OSCE Minsk Group proposed mechanism to investigate the incidents, stressing that this will help avoid the aggravation of the situation and human casualties.

He welcomed the initiative of the office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman –in-Office to increase  the number of monitoring missions carried out in such situations.

The sides were also said to speak about Shant -2015 (Lightening -2015) strategic command and staff exercises  held in Armenia from 3 to 6 September and their goals. -0-
