Crypto Wars Rage On Between Tech Giants, US Justice Department
This summer, the US Department of Justice got a court order for Apple to hand over text message records between two iPhone users, as part of an investigation into suspected drug and gun trafficking. Apple said they were unable to comply due to the application’s encryption, for which they’d need something known as a “golden key” to decrypt.
