Armenia emphasizes expansion of cooperation with EU, president Sargsyan says
YEREVAN, September 18. / ARKA /. Armenia emphasizes greatly further expansion and deepening of cooperation with the European Union and its institutions, President Serzh Sargsyan said today as he received credentials from the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Peter Switalski.
"Cooperation with the European Union since the moment when Armenia regained its independence has been one of its foreign policy priorities," Sargsyan was quoted as saying by his press office.
The president stressed that Armenia is ready to continue wide-ranging reforms, commending also the assistance provided by the EU in this matter.
The two men were said to have noted with satisfaction that relations between Armenia and the EU are developing dynamically, reflecting the mutual political will and bilateral obligations.
Switalski thanked the president for good wishes and important political message, relating to the development of relations with the European Union and assured that he and his team will do everything possible to give relations between Armenia and the European Union a new quality.
The ambassador described Armenia as an important partner of EU, not just because of its being in EU Neighborhood Policy program, but also because of the fact that Armenia is part of the wider European space and because Armenians’ contributions to the history of Europe and civilization.
The president and the head of the EU Delegation stressed also the importance of reviewing and updating the European Neighborhood Policy, which was also enshrined in the Riga summit of the Eastern Partnership, in view of differentiated approaches, commitment to common values and progress in implementing reforms .--- 0--
