PM Borisov Congratulates Bulgarians on 107th Anniversary of Independence

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov congratulated on Tuesday all Bulgarians on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the country's independence from the Ottoman Empire, which was declared on 22 September 1908.

In an address to the nation, Borisov called for paying homage and respect to all Bulgarians, who had lost their lives in the name of achieving the ideal of national unity and independence.

According to him, Bulgarians should not forget the self-sacrifice of their predecessors and should remember that their goal is to work towards the economic and cultural prosperity of Bulgaria.

In his words, Bulgarians should be proud and remember dates like 22 September 1908, when the Bulgarian nation earned with dignity its rightful position among the family of independent European states.

Borisov said that now, 107 years later, Bulgaria and Europe are faced with new challenges and that the big European family needs unity more than ever.

The prime minister shared his belief that the Bulgarians are peace-loving and merciful people who will contribute to bringing stability in united Europe.

At the same time, Bulgarians should be unflinching towards the memory of their predecessors and continue uniting as a nation and a people in the name of a free and independent Bulgaria.
