Broadcasting digitization completed
The process of transition from analogue to digital broadcasting is over, and now is available across whole Armenia, the Armenian Ministry of Transport and Communication reports.
The technical introduction works for digital broadcasting started in Armenia on January 14, 2014.
The works have been carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Communication’s Armenian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network CJSC jointly with Ericsson and Intelsat.
General Director of Armenian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network CJSC Grigor Amalyan has said that the works fully meet the planned standards.
After digitization, 18 digital channels will be broadcasted in Yerevan and 9 in marzes.
According to some expert assessments, the digital television is 6 times more effective than the analogue one.
The deadline for analogue broadcasting is January 1, 2016.
“We will terminate analogue broadcasting in January unless any other legal act or legal approach is passed in Armenia. I think people should get the device as soon as possible as otherwise the market will be overloaded”, Grigor Amalyan said.
The overall cost of the program makes AMD6bln 922mln.
