EU judge brands Safe Harbour data sharing with US illegal

An ECJ advocate general issued an opinion this morning (23 September) calling the EU-US Safe Harbour data sharing agreement legally invalid.

French ECJ judge Yves Bot said in his conclusions that “the law and practice of the United States allow the large-scale collection of the personal data of citizens of the EU which is transferred, without those citizens benefiting from effective judicial protection".
