Benedict Cumberbatch & Jake Gyllenhaal Will Do Battle In 'The Current War' For Director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon
"The Current War" has been knocking around Hollywood for a while now. Timur Bekmambetov, Ben Stiller, and Paul King all toyed with directing at various points, and Sacha Baron Cohen circled a lead role a couple years ago, but nothing ever came to fruition. Now, the starriest concoction yet is being mixed and hopefully this is the version that gets off the ground.
THR reports that Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks for the movie, which has a Black List-approved script by Michael Mitnick in the can and ready to go. "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will direct the true story of Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse's battle to produce the first stable electric current. It doesn't sound like the most invigorating story on paper, but let's hope all involved bring some charge to it (sorry).

This project could be a bit of a ways off as Gomez-Rejon...
