YEREVAN, September 28. / ARKA /. Dilijan Community Centre designed to boost urban life in Armenia’s famous resort town opened on September 27, the Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation said.

The Dilijan Community Centre was set up as a result of reorganization of Dilijan Youth Center established in 2014.  It was meant to consolidate the young people of the town, create for them opportunities for acquiring knowledge and skills and also support local initiatives.

The new structure has a broader range of functions and will become a center for working with the locals. The official opening of the Center was held on September 27. The event was attended by IDeA head Edgar Manukyan, IDeA representatives, the chief architect of Dilijan, guests and residents of the town. Ruben Vardanyan, co-founder of IDeA Foundation, also attended the opening.

“The Youth Centre had made considerable success: about 300 students took classes in hobby groups and improved their skills in various fields. However, I think more can be done. We have found a new format of operation and we plan to carry out joint programs with other organizations for the development of the town with active involvement of the town residents”, said Edgar Manukyan.

Head of Diljan Community Center Vasiliy Bardadymov said the Centre has always been open for the most active young people, ‘but we believe that youth is not age: it’s a state of mind and willingness to change the reality around us.’

‘We are here for you and ready to support in any action. We are looking forward to your initiatives and ideas, and our doors are open to everyone irrespective of age”, he said.

Edgar Manukyan handed the Youth Centre certificates to over 30 students who have had 5-month “Development of Skills” course organized by the Human Rights Institute and German Bosch Foundation with the IDeA’s support. -0-
