Shaughnessy mansions to be protected

After wading through three public meetings and almost 700 letters and emails from the public, Vancouver council approved a plan on Tuesday that outlaws demolition of older Shaughnessy homes. The vote was unanimous, with councillors from the Vision, NPA and Green parties all supporting a city staff recommendation to set up a Shaughnessy heritage conservation area.
