B.C. records slow growth in number of working doctors

More medical degrees are being awarded than ever before in Canada, but B.C. is one of three jurisdictions to have the lowest increase in the number of working doctors in the last five years, a new national report shows. The number of physicians working in B.C., Quebec and Prince Edward Island grew by about 10 per cent in the past five years. Alberta and Saskatchewan had the biggest increases, at about 20 per cent, according to the annual Physicians in Canada report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information.
