Don Cayo: New think-tank’s list of the ‘best’ premiers won’t be shared by everyone

The best premier Canada has seen in recent decades was Mike Harris, the Progressive (or, perhaps, not-so-progressive) Conservative who led Ontario from 1995 to 2002 and whose name still makes many trade unionists spit. The second-worst was Peter Lougheed — the somewhat more progressive Progressive Conservative who led Alberta from 1971 to 1985 and who is remembered to this day by thousands of his former constituents as “Saint Peter.” (The one worse than him was Pauline Marois, who led the PQ from 2007 to 2014.)
