U.S. Administration emphasizes expansion and strengthening of cooperation with Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received today U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried, the government press service reported.

YEREVAN, June 18. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received today U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried, the government press service reported.

It said Pashinyan underscored the development and expansion of Armenian-American relations and praised U.S. assistance in the effective promotion of democratic reforms by the Armenian government, adding that the development of democracy is one of the top priorities of his government.

According to Donfried, the US Administration also attaches importance to the expansion and strengthening of cooperation with Armenia in various directions, therefore the support to the development of democratic institutions of Armenia will be consistent.

The interlocutors were said to have spoken also about the processes in the South Caucasus region, settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, activities of the Commission for Demarcation and Border Security between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister attached importance to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region and stressed the need for an adequate response by the international community to the provocative statements and actions, which undermine regional stability.

At the same time Pashinyan stressed the key role of the United States as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing country and emphasized the importance of a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the framework of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship. -0-
