Pashinyan: development of relations with Germany is especially important

Armenia believes that development of relations with Germany, which is Armenia's largest trade and economic partner in the European Union, is especially important, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the German Ambassador to Armenia Viktor Richter on Thursday.

YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. Armenia believes that development of relations with Germany, which is Armenia's largest trade and economic partner in the European Union, is especially important, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the German Ambassador to Armenia Viktor Richter on Thursday.

Pashinyan expressed confidence that high level political dialogue between the two countries will contribute to further mutually beneficial cooperation, the government press service reported.

Ambassador Richter said in turn that Germany is interested in developing cooperation with Armenia and reaffirms its support for democratic reforms in the country.

The two men discussed also the agenda of the Armenian-German partnership and the perspectives of deepening bilateral relations. Expressing satisfaction with the projects implemented with the support of Germany, Pashinyan said intensive agriculture is a prospective direction of cooperation.

The German Ambassador welcomed this proposal and reminded that a string of joint projects are being implemented in such areas as small and medium business, energy, water economy, e-government and finance.

The sides discussed also the activities of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and KfW bank in Armenia.

According to Armenia's National Statistical Committee, Germany is Armenia's leading trade partner among European states. The Armenian-German foreign trade totaled $119.7mln in the first four months of 2022, registering a 26.9% growth against the same period of time last year. --0--
