Armenian bill determines maximum number of students per school classroom

The Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has drafted a bill that determines the number of school students per one classroom (or to a teacher) saying it expects public discussion of the bill.

YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has drafted a bill that determines the number of school students per one classroom (or to a teacher) saying it expects public discussion of the bill.

According to the document, the maximum number of students per one classroom is 25 for primary and secondary schools, and 20 students for high schools.

This norm is supposed to be introduced together with the introduction of new general education standards, which are to come into force in September 2026.

The ministry says the next few years will be used to take stock of the physical infrastructure of schools and the number of teachers.

The current law allows a maximum of 35 students per one classroom, but in some cases these norms are not respected, which causes discontent of teachers and parents of school students.

Proposals and comments on the bill can be submitted until July 2 at the unified website for publication of draft legal acts at https://www.e-draft.am/en. -0-
