New war in South Caucasus unacceptable - Iranian president

In a telephone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke in detail about the provocative and aggressive actions carried out by the armed forces of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia today.

YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. In a telephone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke in detail about the provocative and aggressive actions carried out by the armed forces of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia today.

According to the press service of the Armenian government, Raisi said that a new war in the South Caucasus region was unacceptable and that Iran was closely following the developments on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The Iranian President stressed that all conflicts in the region must be resolved peacefully and Iran's stance on the territorial integrity of states is well known.

The Iranian President made a reference to a recent speech by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, in which he said that Iran's communications with Armenia must not be jeopardized and the channels of communication must be under the sovereignty of the states.

Raisi stressed that his country is ready to support the establishment of peace in the region, adding that the issue of Armenia's security is important for Iran. -0-
