Armenian defense ministry says tension on border with Azerbaijan critical: enemy tries to advance and uses drones

YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. As of 3 p.m., September 14, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has again become extremely tense, spokesman for the Armenian Defense Ministry Aram Torosyan said.       

"Starting from 13:00 the enemy resumed intensive artillery strikes along the entire length of the border from Sotk to Goris, targeting also settlements, making extensive use of drone strikes. Notably, the strikes targeted Russian Federal Security Service vehicles carrying out humanitarian missions. Despite statements by official Baku, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces do not distinguish between targets. Along with the missile and artillery strikes, the Azerbaijani units also resumed their attempts of positional advance. The Armenian Armed Forces take all the necessary steps to adequately respond to the enemy," Torosyan said.

On September 13 at 00.05, Azerbaijani Armed Forces started intensive shelling of Armenian positions using artillery, combat drones and large-caliber guns in the direction of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish and Ishkhanasar. They also made attempts to advance into Armenia's territory, but were made retreat by relatiatory fire.

Today morning, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces resumed their attacks, including the use of drone strikes and artillery, in the direction of Jermuk in Syunik and Verin Shorzha village in Gegharkunik regions.

Armenia said at least 49 of its soldiers were killed and three civilians were wounded, and Azerbaijan said it had lost 50 soldiers. -0-
