George Miller Says 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Sequel Story Doesn't Involve Furiosa

While George Miller has recently said he's got two sequel scripts in the works for "Mad Max: Fury Road," the director has also stated he wants to make a smaller, non-blockbuster movie next. All that said, it has been the general understanding (or hope) that Charlize Theron would reprise her role as the badass Furiosa (possibly even in a spin-off), even though the actress has already said she's not signed for a sequel, and reportedly had a difficult time shooting with Tom Hardy (who is inked for three more films). However, Miller has revealed that wherever the franchise goes next, Furiosa won't be at the center of it. 

"I'm not sure, is the answer," the director told Digital Spy when asked about Theron returning for the 'Fury Road' followup. "She's not in the Mad Max [sequel] story, but in one of the stories there's an interaction between [Max and Furiosa]. I can't really say more than that because it's still in progress."
