|||Buenos Aires - A prominent campaigner for transsexual rights was murdered in Argentina, news reports said.
The body of Diana Sacayan was found in her apartment in Buenos Aires on Tuesday after she was apparently stabbed to death, news agency Telam reported.
Sacayan was a board member of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association.
In 2012, she received new identity papers as a woman from President Cristina Fernandez de Kircher, after Argentina became the first country in the world to allow people to change their official gender without approval from a doctor or a judge.
She also pushed for local legislation to allocate 1 percent of public service positions to transsexuals and transgenders, which was adopted by the province of Buenos Aires a month ago.
