Johannesburg - Enraged Wits University students blocked off entrances and disrupted classes on Wednesday in protest against planned fee increases.

Fees are expected to go up by 10.5 percent from next year due to declining government subsidies.

The protest, which went viral on social media under the hashtag #WitsFeesMustFall, also inspired Skhumbuzo Tuswa from campus radio station Voice of Wits 88.1FM to record a spoof song.

The song, set to Drake's hit song “Worst Behaviour”, captures an underprivileged students’ struggle with the National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

“This was me being as constructive as I can be in my criticism of the way NSFAS operates at the moment,” Tuswa said on his SoundCloud account.

“Although we could praise the government for this initiative, there are many students every year who unjustly get spat out by the system. Many a time the reasons are ludicrous and resulting from the designated NSFAS offices' negligence.

“This is a yearly headache for many students in South Africa, and the song describes it,” Tuswa
