|||London - The first model is expected to be ready within the next two months and will have a reported price tag of between e2 million and e2.5m (R30.5m and R38m).
Measuring 62ft, the Solarwave 62’ can cruise at speeds between 7 and 13 knots.
Egon Faiss, marketing director of Ned Ship, said: “The owners must know that on green yachts they will have to use it at a speed that is different from traditional fuel-based models.
“You cannot go full speed for several hours.”
Owners will also need to be diligent with their use of appliances in the yacht’s full kitchen.
In order to make power last as long as possible, Ned Ship looked into ways to make the yacht extremely light.
Each Solarwave 62 will be configured to the owner’s wishes and the company believes it will hold its value better than conventional yachts.
