Mourinho insists Chelsea will search for points before brilliance

Jose Mourinho has indicated that Chelsea will be putting results before performances as they strive to get their flailing season back on track.

The Blues defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in a hard-working grind that saw them move up to 11th on the table following a substandard start to their Premier League title defence.

In the wake of the victory, Mourinho told his club's official website that the supporters are likely to see more of the same from the Blues who are intent on doing everything in their favour to produce the right results rather than impress with their style.

"In this moment it's difficult to be brilliant before we have points. What produces results is both quality, plus the other things," he said.

"When you are not able to show your quality, you have always to be able to show the other things. In between quality in some moments and fantastic work by the team and the fantastic desire to win the game, the performance was solid, not brilliant.

"They wanted to win, they wanted to show that they wanted to win, they wanted to show they are together and ready to fight.

"I'm really happy because it was two long weeks after the last defeat."
